Advertising and Analytics
This section explains the analytics and advertising measurement tools we use on landowl.com and app.landowl.com, what they store, and how to opt out.
Google Analytics
Both sites load Google Analytics 4. It uses cookies to count visits and measure how people use our pages, and links a visit to landowl.com with the same visitor's visit to app.landowl.com. Google receives information such as the pages you view, your browser and device type, and your IP address. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Google Ads conversion measurement
We advertise on Google. To learn which ads work, the web app may send Google Analytics a “sign up” event when a new account is created and a “purchase” event (plan name, price and a transaction reference) when a plan is bought. These events can be imported into Google Ads and matched to the ad click that brought you to us. Under some US state privacy laws, including California's, this can count as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
The attribution cookie (lo_attr)
When you visit landowl.com we set a first-party cookie called lo_attr that remembers how you first found us and how you most recently arrived. It stores a random visitor ID and, for each of those two visits, the time, the source and medium (for example “google / cpc”), any campaign details in the link (UTM tags), any Google ad click ID, the referring website address and the landing page path. It lasts 90 days. If you create an account, the web app reads it once and saves it with your account so we know which marketing brought you in.
Our own analytics
landowl.com also runs our own first-party analytics. It records page views, clicks, how far you scroll and how long a page stays open, together with a random visitor ID kept in your browser's local storage, a session ID, your device type, the referring website and campaign tags. This data is sent to our own servers, not to Google. It does not run if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or if you have opted out.
How to opt out
Visit Your Privacy Choices (also linked as “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” at the bottom of every page). Opting out saves a cookie called lo_optout in your browser for two years. While it is set, on both landowl.com and app.landowl.com:
- Google's tags are told not to use advertising or analytics storage for you (Google Consent Mode)
- The web app does not send the sign-up or purchase events described above
- Our own analytics does not run, and the
lo_attrcookie is deleted and not set again
We also honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends it, we treat you as opted out automatically. Your choice applies to the browser and device you make it on.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Encryption: All data in transit is encrypted using 256-bit SSL/TLS
- Access Controls: Strict internal access policies and role-based permissions
- Secure Infrastructure: Data hosted on secure, SOC 2 compliant servers
- Regular Audits: Periodic security assessments and vulnerability testing
- Password Protection: Passwords are hashed and salted using industry-standard algorithms
While we take reasonable precautions to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Export: Download your saved parcels, notes, and other data in portable formats (CSV, JSON, Excel)
